Panel Description

We in the Construction arena are always ready to support the Design Community and the Government Owners groups as it is a true partnership effort on all projects. It may not always feel like it and it may not always prove to work as well as others, however it is in our collective benefit to work together. In that effort we can be available for a panel of discussion where any questions from the Designers or the Governments can be proposed and discussed to be better prepared to move forward with more understanding. Topic’s can be any procedure we find troublesome or unnecessary, requirement that are necessary for the owners that we may not understand, Design concerns such as project access prior to or during construction activities, Wetland mitigation, traffic control requirements, available materials sources or creative topics spun from the open discussions.

Panel Bios

George Lobman – UTCA NJ

George serves as the Director of Transportation Agencies who joined the UTCA after 34 years with the NJDOT and then 17 years as a Vice President of AECOM, an International Heavy Highway De­sign firm. George has worked with the UTCA even while employed by the DOT and AECOM. He has been a long-time member of the Legislative Committee as an Associate member.

George brings a wealth of contacts and knowledge of both design firms and the NJDOT Con­struction and Operations staff. He maintains his contacts and can assist in any issues that be­come problematic for UTCA Members Firms. George can be a helpful contact should questions come up regarding individual Construction Projects with the NJDOT, NJTPK or NJ Transit.

Glenn Ely – PKF

Mr. Ely is a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer graduate from Princeton University. Since joining PKF in 1986, he has contributed in varied roles, including engineering, supervision, and project and corporate management. Major projects on which Mr. Ely has played significant roles include Deer Island, MA Harbor Cleanup Secondary Reactor Project Joint Venture, Upper Blackstone Incinerator Off-Gas Design Build Joint Venture, SEPTA Market Street Elevated Replacement from 46th Street through 63rd Street, NJTA Interchanges 7A and 8 Turnpike Widening Projects, NJTA Variable Message Sign/Structures Projects throughout the length of the NJ Turnpike and Parkway, and the joint ventured Scudders Falls Bridge Replacement.

In February of 2013, after 27 years in various operational and management roles, Glenn Ely was named as PKF’s president. In addition to corporate functional and strategic management, Glenn leads the company’s important Management Committee and Board of Directors.
