ASHE SNJ 2024 Scholarship Winners

ASHE SNJ congratulates the winners of our 2024 scholarships!


$24,000 in the scholarships went to exceptional local students studying a field related to civil engineering.

4/5 Year College Program

Youssef Gerges

Youssef was selected to receive a $5,500 scholarship. He completed his Senior year at Rowan University while studying Civil Engineering and is on the President’s List. Youssef is the past President of ASHE at Rowan and is a member of ASCE. He had the opportunity to intern at KMA, McCormick Taylor, and Remington & Vernick as an Engineering intern. Youssef is looking forward to continuing his career in the transportation industry.

William Anskis

William was selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship. He will be going into his Senior year at Rowan University studying Civil Engineering. He is currently interning at RE Pierson. This past semester, he worked on the Safe Routes to School clinic. William is looking forward to continuing his education at Rowan while pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.


Orin Rahman

Orin was selected to receive a $5,500 scholarship. She will be going into her Senior year at Rutgers University studying Civil Engineering. Orin was a member of the ASCE Steel Bridge team at Rutgers as well as a member of Engineers in Action. She was an engineering assistant at Rutgers completing various engineering tasks. Orin grew up in regions where coastal flooding has been a major problem and wanted to pursue a career where she could improve living conditions in these areas.

Community College Program

Eli Goldman

Eli was selected to receive a $4,000 scholarship. Eli is a student at Ocean County College. He currently works at Newlines Land Consultants as a Civil Engineering Designer. Eli has volunteered at Misameach where he helps lift the spirits of people who are hospitalized or bedridden by singing and dancing. Eli is currently attending Ocean County College and plans to attend University after obtaining his associate degree.


Jair Greene

Jair was selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Damian is a student at Mercer County College. He is a student member of ASHE. Jair remembers playing with Legos in his childhood and from an early age he was interested in how buildings are constructed. Jair is currently attending Mercer County College and plans to attend University after obtaining his associate degree.


Juanito Quetua

Juanito was selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship. Juanito is a student at Ocean County College. He is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He decided in high school that he wanted to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering and has been striving for that goal since.  Juanito is currently attending Ocean County College and plans to attend University after obtaining his associate degree.

Damain Salvy

Damian was selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship. Damian is a student at Mercer County College. He is a student member of ASHE. He has volunteered as a bus aid to assist with transporting students with special needs. Damian originally planned to be a pilot but found his passion in school with Civil Engineering. Damian is currently attending Mercer County College and plans to attend University after obtaining his associate degree.
