ASHE SNJ 2021 Scholarship Winners

ASHE SNJ congratulates the winners of our 2021 scholarships!

Michelle Andrascik was selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship. She is a Junior at The College of New Jersey studying Civil Engineering with a GPA of 3.922. Michelle is a member of the ASHE SNJ student chapter at TCNJ as well as ASCE, SWE and Phi Theta Kappa. Michelle has had the opportunity to intern with NJDEP Allaire State Park and KSI Professional Engineers. She has been invited to pledge for the TCNJ Civil Engineering Honor Society – Chi Epsilon and was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success – Sigma Alpha Pi.

Austin Farnum was selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship. He is a Senior at The College of New Jersey studying Civil Engineering with a GPA of 3.945. Austin serves as an ambassador for the School of Engineering and completed internships with Advantage Engineering Associates, P.C. He was inducted into the Chi Epsilon Engineering Honor Society and served as President and Secretary of TCNJ Humanitarian Engineering.

Juan Vera-Bedolla was selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship. He is a Junior studying Civil Engineering at Rowan University with a 4.0 GPA. Juan is currently completing a research fellowship with Rowan CREATE’s and has held an internship with Hall Construction, Inc. He has been involved with the student chapters for ASCE and Society of Hispanic Engineers as well as a variety of campus sports and clubs. Juan also had the unique opportunity to study abroad in China.

Melissa Wences was selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship. She is a Sophomore at The College of New Jersey studying Civil Engineering. She received her Associates Degree in Engineering Science from Mercer County Community College and is looking forward to becoming the first Civil Engineering female in her family. Melissa is involved with ROTC and works full time to help support her younger siblings. She has also participated as a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club.

Anita Rios was selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship. She is currently studying Civil Engineering at Mercer County Community College with a 3.662 GPA. Anita is the first individual in her family to attend college. She has served as Vice President and Secretary in the ASHE MCCC student chapter and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In her very limited free time, Anita volunteers at the “Arm and Arm” food pantry.

Jack Palmucci was selected to receive a $500 scholarship. He is currently studying Civil Engineering at Mercer County Community College with a 3.314 GPA. Jack is on the MCCC Dean’s list and was a semi-finalist in the Build It Better NJ State Championship. He works part time while attending classes and looks forward to making an impact in the engineering industry.
