Project Description

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) implemented a comprehensive engineering and technology-based approach for inventorying and prioritizing guiderail assets within the Department’s current jurisdiction. The resulting data included a comprehensive inventory of approximately 1,587 miles of guiderail across the 4,659 miles of state highway. The final prioritization methodology identified high-priority replacement locations across the North, Central, and South Regions, which will optimize the use of the FHWA annual funding of $25M. The goal of this presentation is to describe the approach by including a discussion on the development of the data collection process, the implementation of the data collection process, the organization of the collected data, the maintenance of the data after initial collection, the prioritization, and the development of the finalized guiderail data map.

Future City Philadelphia Award Winners

We will also have a small presentation by the ASHE SNJ’s Highway Excellence Award winners Collingswood Middle School for their success at Philadelphia’s Future City competition. For more information see our website for an article about our winners and www.futurecityphilly.org.
